Private Art Classes (1:1 and 1:2)

Who I Am

I’m Marianna, an experienced art educator and illustrator with over 15 years’ experience teaching children and adults. I’m the founder of Gloworm Studios and have spent many years running small group classes, workshops, and individual art sessions across Melbourne.

My background is in visual art and illustration, and my teaching is grounded in years of hands-on experience working with children and young people with a wide range of learning styles, personalities, and creative interests.

I have worked with hundreds of families over the years and am known for my calm, nurturing, and supportive approach. I create a space where people feel safe to explore, experiment, and enjoy making art at their own pace.

I value creativity as a meaningful and confidence-building part of life, and I believe the enjoyment of the creative process is just as important as the finished artwork.

What I Do

I offer private art classes for children and adults aged 4 years and up, available as 1:1 or 1:2 sessions. Sessions are tailored to the individual needs, interests, and goals of each participant.

Classes may include:

  • Process-based art making

  • Sensory and play-based art activities

  • Skill-building in drawing, painting, or mixed media

  • Extension for children who show strong creative ability

  • Folio preparation and feedback for VCE students

Private sessions are well suited to people who benefit from a quieter, more personalised learning environment or who may not thrive in a group setting.

Individual Goals

Each participant comes with their own reasons for attending. Sessions can gently support goals such as:

  • Building confidence through creative expression

  • Supporting emotional wellbeing through art making

  • Working through perfectionism or creative blocks

  • Developing skills in a particular medium, style, or technique

  • Enjoying creativity in a relaxed, pressure-free way

These are art classes, not art therapy, with an emphasis on enjoyment, exploration, and creative growth.

My Approach

My approach is gentle, nurturing, affirming, and supportive.

Enjoyment of the creative process always takes priority over the finished outcome.

I provide encouragement and guidance throughout the art-making process, supporting each person to explore ideas, build skills, and develop confidence in their own creative voice.

Schools, Referrals & NDIS

Sessions are offered in a calm, flexible environment and can be adjusted to suit individual access and sensory needs, including sensory preferences, pacing, and the level of structure provided.

I welcome enquiries and referrals from schools and allied health professionals seeking individual art classes for children who benefit from a personalised, creative learning environment.

Some families choose to use self-managed or plan-managed NDIS funds to support participation in individual art classes. Families are responsible for confirming suitability with their plan.

Private art classes are not art therapy and do not replace allied health services.
